Q10068 - FAQ: Is there a fix to be applied to Promodag for the 2007 Daylight Saving Time

Promodag Reports compliance with 2007 daylight saving time for the United States

Introduction

Starting in the spring of 2007, daylight saving time (DST) start and end dates for the United States will transition to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. DST dates in the United States will start three weeks earlier, at 2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March. DST will end one week later, at 2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November.

Microsoft published several articles regarding daylight saving time changes for the United States, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387.

Promodag Reports for Microsoft Exchange works with local time and takes into consideration summer time changes. This can be setup individually for each database. You can verify your settings in Tools > Parameters > Database tab.

In the Exchange tracking files, the date and time field is expressed in GMT. When importing the tracking files, Promodag Reports records both the original GMT date and time and the local time depending on the configured time zone. This way, it is easy to change the time zone because Promodag Reports can recalculate new local date and time based on the GMT date.

To take into consideration the time differences and the daylight saving time changes, Promodag Reports uses its own time zone file. Therefore Promodag Reports functions independently from the settings of the machine on which it is installed.

What you need to do

Promodag version 7.6 supports new and old daylight saving time changes. This guarantees a correct calculation for both new and old tracking files imports and reimports.

To upgrade from version 7.x to version 7.6, download the software from our website and install it, a new registration code is not required.

Once the new version installed, you will be asked to upgrade the database. If the upgrade process detects a time zone that is impacted by the new changes and that messages dated later than March 12, 2007 are present in the database, then local date and time are recalculated.

New report for Appointment search

To help our customers make modifications to appointments, version 7.6 comes with a new report which can be used to search and list non-recurring appointments in a given timeframe.

The report can be found in Reports > Mailboxes Content > Appointment Search.
