Q10071 - HOWTO: Migrate from Promodag Reports version 7 to version 8 ?

Please follow these steps to migrate from version 7 to version 8:

  1. Install Promodag Reports version 8.
NB: Version 7 and version 8 may work on the same machine. However, they use a different database format and they cannot share a common database.

  2. Create a new database or open an existing database.
    • Start Promodag Reports.
    • If you decide to create a new database, the software will remain in evaluation mode until you enter a valid registration code.
    • If you decide to open an existing database, you will be immediately prompted for the registration code, and then your database will automatically be converted  to the version 8 format.

  3. Migrate your existing report option and batch files.
Go to Tools > Report Option File Migration and convert your option files (extension *.pro and *.prb) so that they may be used in version 8. Their default locations are  %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Promodag\Reports\7\Batches and \8\Batches.

Note: report option files from version 6 and older cannot be directly converted, see related article below.

  4. Get acquainted with the new version.
Some reports names were changed. To find out how they are now called, please follow this link.

  5. Additional information.
A list of version 8 new features is available here.
