Do I really need to import message tracking files for the whole of last year ?

Question:
I would like to have a report on all incoming and outgoing messages to/from our Exchange organization for the whole of 2022.
Do we also need to import Exchange message tracking files for the whole of 2022?

Answer:
If you have not kept all your Exchange message tracking files of the year 2022, and imported them into the Promodag Reports database, I am afraid it will not be possible to obtain such a report.

Promodag Reports uses Exchange message tracking files as primary data source when it comes to generating reports on traffic.
Therefore, you must definitely import Exchange message tracking files covering the reporting period selected in the Period tab of the report, or you will obtain a warning message telling that 'No data could be found based on selected criteria'.

This principle is also valid for other types of reports:
  1. You cannot obtain a report on OWA or ActiveSync activity if you have not imported the matching IIS log files before;
  2. You cannot obtain a report on the size of your Exchange databases last year if you have only started to import this type of storage size yesterday (or if you have never imported it);
  3. You cannot obtain a report on the size of your mailboxes last month if you have only started to import this type of storage size today (or if you have never imported it).
